My grandma used to crochet blankets. Every time someone became pregnant, my grandma would ask me to take her to Michael's to pick out Red Heart yarn so that she could create a new blanket. I spent a lot of time with her. We often went to funerals together. Her death inspired this painting, made with honor and with love, just like her blankets. Although I don't do it anymore, I know how to crochet because of her. This triptych painting is not only a tribute to her, but to life and death itself.
