Every relationship is unique. I was commissioned to do a dark renaissance type of anniversary painting. However Tom passed away before the painting was even started. Hesitant to follow through, but I could not forget the joy in Tom's eyes as he spoke of his dark but silly idea. He wanted his angel of a wife to be standing over his body holding his chopped off head with devil horns. In my heart I knew that I could still accomplish his idea respectfully with less darkness considering the new circumstances. The horns were not painted in when I handed the painting to his wife. I told her the story and she smiled and said "Paint them on. I would always tell him, Tom, your horns are showing."
I imagined he wanted me to use the above paintings as reference or possibly something even darker.
